New mega-resort investment in Uluwatu

The magical land Uluwatu always interesting to visit it, with cliff and ocean view make Uluwatu is one of favorite tourism destination in Bali. For Balinese, Uluwatu is shrine where one of holy temple in Bali located in Uluwatu.
Now, Uluwatu blooming is very fast, some Bali villas has been developed in Uluwatu area, it’s indicate that Uluwatu is favorite area for business development too.

As reported by Bisnis Indonesia, a investor which named PT Suryainti Permata, has invested their IDR 1 trillion (US$ 100 Million) to build “The Rich Prada”, the greatest resort include a 5000 square meter spa. This prestige project, will built in 20-hectare site near Uluwatu in South of Bali. As reported, the land is being supplied by PT Pecatu Graha who known as owner of ‘Dreamland’ area, and PT Suryainti is only involved in build the hotel.

This project will propose to build 900 rooms which will managed by The Rich Prada, an international hotel management. The president director of Suryainti admitted that this project will represent the last major hotel development in Bali, where the local governments will be curtail new hotel development in Bali.

Agree or disagree, this project will invite pro and anti attitude of Bali society, where former and current Governors supported to refusal for any business development in Uluwatu, especially near holy temple of Uluwatu.

High occupancy in Bali hotels

Terrorism issue that has been nightmare for tourism industrial in Indonesia, doesn’t impact demand of travel to Bali. As Radar Bali reported, until middle of September 2009, hotels occupancy in Bali getting high season. Even, hotels in Kuta or Tuban area has been fully booked, and most five-star hotels has 93% occupancy.

From that report, terrorism issue doesn’t make tourist to cancel their holiday plan to Bali. Most of tourists now believe, that terrorists can be in action every where, even it in countries which often have terrorism action. It’s a wise mind, they also believe if they worry to do holiday travel , it will make terrorists think that they win. Right now, Indonesia has been war with terrorism, for evidence, yesterday Indonesia police has killed Noordin M Top and some of his friends in Solo – East Java. As you know, Noordin M Top is a top wanted man and he is a leader for some terrorism action from Jakarta to Bali. Hope, this news will increase enthusiasm of tourism in Indonesia, especially in Bali.

Back to occupancy in Bali accommodations, is not only hotels in Bali, but Bali villas also have high occupancy in September 2009. 1 bedroom and 2 bedrooms villas are favorite, especially for Eid holiday that will come next week. It’s nice to hear that Bali tourism doesn’t influential with negative issues.

Hotels rate lower than standard have to downgrade

This’s about rates war that i read on newspaper, where so many hotels in Bali on grab their customer using decrease rate strategy, and it’s lower than standard rate. High and low of hotel rate has been a value to appraise their service to the customer. Hotels with high rate will mirroring their service has accorded with their classification, hotels with low rate is opposite with that.

Bad service or not appropriate with their classification also may be made hotel rate lower than the standard. If any hotels like that, it might be they have something wrong on their service or management, and they have to decrease their classification, said Perry Markus – a Accessor Head Team of Hotel Classification.

Even many hotels use lower rates than standard, there’s a five star resort in Nusa Dua applied rate higher than standard. For example, St. Regis Villa is one of hotels that have high rate, rate for night could be USD 12.000 in that hotel. But, i think it worth with their services to their guests.

In my opinion, this strategy also applied by many hotel sales and marketing as we known, the competition in Bali accommodation is hard right now.
