Serangan Marine ready to launch

Balinese people committed to maintain number of species of Bali’s marine, by creating marine aquarium located at Banjar Pojok-Serangan-Bali. Marine aquarium is launched by Serangan Marine Garden. As per Mr. Susumu Kanno, Ph.D., who’s Director of Serangan Marine Garden, the idea to build marine’s aquarium for education of marine purpose and keep all Bali’s marine species growing for in coming future.

It is open for public either local people or Bali’s visitor who want to know our species of Bali’s marine. Visitor of Bali Island will not only able to have nice Bali villas accommodation, nice panorama of mountain and white sand beaches they also may have change to see 100 aquariums which is one aquarium with one species. This aquarium has launched by wife of Minister of Maritime and Fishery, Ms. Anni Numberi. She hopes this aquarium will be a place for riset and learn about maritime habitat.

Hotels rate lower than standard have to downgrade

This’s about rates war that i read on newspaper, where so many hotels in Bali on grab their customer using decrease rate strategy, and it’s lower than standard rate. High and low of hotel rate has been a value to appraise their service to the customer. Hotels with high rate will mirroring their service has accorded with their classification, hotels with low rate is opposite with that.

Bad service or not appropriate with their classification also may be made hotel rate lower than the standard. If any hotels like that, it might be they have something wrong on their service or management, and they have to decrease their classification, said Perry Markus – a Accessor Head Team of Hotel Classification.

Even many hotels use lower rates than standard, there’s a five star resort in Nusa Dua applied rate higher than standard. For example, St. Regis Villa is one of hotels that have high rate, rate for night could be USD 12.000 in that hotel. But, i think it worth with their services to their guests.

In my opinion, this strategy also applied by many hotel sales and marketing as we known, the competition in Bali accommodation is hard right now.

Many tourist from Iran come to Bali

We know Iran is a conservationist country, but many Iranian peoples have overseas traveling hobby.  Many places has been their travel destination, such as Brazil, Cyprus, Turki, Dubai, India, Thailand, Malaysia and also Indonesia. Especially Indonesia, travel visit by Iranian peoples to Bali on last 3 years has increased. It’s caused our government put into effect Visa on Arrival (VoA).  It’s also implicated by official visited of Iran President in several month ago where his visited has been successful.

Bali has been a favorite destination for Iran tourist, beside Malaysia and Thailand. 3 years ago, their first group was only 75 peoples, but after that it’s increased, said a tour guide for Iran tourist. Most Iran tourist be opting Bali as their travel destination as compared to another destination, it’s caused Bali has unique culture and its panoram more complete that others.

Iran touris can be group as midle-top class tourist as they spend much time on five-star hotels in Nusa Dua and Kuta area. Next June 2009, Mahar Airways -  a flight company from Iran – will open their flight rute direct from Teheran to Jakarta, it will increase many Iran tourist come to Indonesia especially Bali, if we do incessant promotion. I wish  be sides living in five-star Resort, Iran tourist also make choice to live in Bali villas as its also give five-star services but they can have private holiday.

Nyepi (Silence Day) the Balinese New Year

March 26th , 2009 marks the first day of the Balinese New Year 1931 called Nyepi Day. According to the Hindu belief, Nyepi is a day of complete silence without any noise, traffic, fire and lights. It is a day of complete stillness in the physical and spiritual worlds.

For the Hindus, Nyepi is a day spent in total silence, meditation, fasting and introspection, reflecting on the past year’s events. Hindus believe the law concerning Nyepi is “Catur Brata Penyepian” (four ascetic practices). They are “Amati Geni” (no fire, which is both literal and symbolic of mental and physical obstacles), “Amati Karya” (no activities, a precondition to meditation), “Amati Lelungaan” (no going out of the house/compound) and “Amati Lelanguan” (no entertainment).

The activities by Hindus in Bali to celebrate the Nyepi Day

  • Melasti or Mekiyis or Melis, Melasti is meant to clean the pratima or arca or pralingga (statue), with symbols that help to concentrate the mind in order to become closer to God. The ceremony is aimed to clean all nature and its content, and also to take the “Amerta” (the source for eternal life) from the ocean or other water sources. Three days before Nyepi, all the effigies of the Gods from all village temples are taken to the beach including Seminyak Beach (where we located) or river in long and colorful ceremonies. There, they are bathed by the Neptune of Balinese Lord, The God Baruna, before being taken back home to their shrines. The local village will have their ceremony staring at 8am – 3pm and located along the beach in front of Samaya. In order to respect the tradition, we will close the main pool during that period while Breeze Restaurant will be operate as usual.
  • Tawur Kesanga - Exactly one day before Nyepi, all villages in Bali hold a large exorcism ceremony at the main village cross road, the meeting place of demons. They usually make Ogoh Ogoh (the fantastic monster or evil spirits or The Butha Kala made of bamboo) for carnival purposes. The carnivals themselves are held all over Bali following sunset.
  • Nyepi Day – This is a day of absolute silence observed throughout the island and a day of introspection for Hindus.
  • Ngembak Geni - One day after the Nyepi day, the people awake from stillness to begin a new day. A new page of each life is really seen from a religious point of view and has been made by each individual.

Although during that day Bali will totally in silence, most of the hotel, villa or resort still provide their service as usual with limited activities, reduced lighting and minimal noise. In order to respect the tradition, they usually suggest their guest to switch off all balcony lights for the whole night of March 26th , 2009, keep the window curtain closed and request their guest kind understanding for not going to the beach area.
